I Favor Incorporation

If you feel that right now is the time to look into incorporation, and are willing to add your name to this effort, please add it here by posting a comment (scroll to the bottom of the page).  Please leave your name, and if you’d like, add your thoughts on why we should incorporate (please note: comments are required, so at a minimum, type “I favor incorporation,” or something to that effect).  Please refrain from attacking the county, county staff or elected officials in sharing your reasons for pursuing incorporation.

  3. Dr. Bret Staley says:

Incorporation is a communities way of showing it has enough pride and that it desires to control its self and overcome problems rather than blaming the county government for it’s problems.
For all nay sayers please contact Boulder City and talk to their public information officer and you can find out what ever it is that you would like to know. As you talk with them you will discover that Boulder City has not only survived as a small non-gaming city but has thrived .

  4. I favor looking into incorporation. I will know whether I favor incorporation when we have a realistic understanding of the cost ramifications. My wife Audrey Johnson and I volunteer to help. We are both field registrars with the Clark County Election Department and would be delighted to register potential voters. We will have a booth at the Clark County Fair to register voters. We will register students at MVHS who will be eighteen years of age prior to the nest election. We will go to the homes of shut-ins who want to register to vote. We wil help collect signatures for petitions if needed. phone 398-3337.

The TV tax isn’t something we have any control over. As with any tax, I would hope that it could be discussed by a mayor & city council, but I don’t know the specifics of the tax. Regardless, if it can be debated, it would be at a later date, once we know if we can incorporate and then follow through and incorporate.

  7. Chyrl Jarrel says:

John and I have lived here since 1970. Believe me we have seen that the left hand of Clark County does NOT know what the right hand is doing; nor does it care. Clark County does not have the same interest we do in keeping the valley a safe, clean place to raise our families. It’s time to take things in our own hands. We should have done this along time ago.

  8. Paul Wheeler says:

I have lived here for over 29 years and have felt the frustration of having Clark County dictate to us things or ideas that we didn’t want or need. It is past time that we stand up and vote to incorporate and then we will be able to direct our valley’s future.

  9. Aaron Lyon says:

I think Moapa Valley has the means, the maturity, and the judgment to be self-sufficient. Few local residents like the County telling us what we must or must not do. We want to make our own decisions. We shouldn’t expect the County to pay for our decisions. We can decide what is best for us, and we can pull our own weight. It is time to Stand Up and Be Heard. We need to quit arguing about what has happen and make a change.

  10. Reilly D. Jensen (Doug) says:

We as a independant freedom loving people have always looked for a better future. To do this we must work to better ourselves and not depend on others to do it for us. We must not complain but put our shoulders to the wheel and do those things that need to be done.
I remember years ago that Richard Lewis did a study on inc. the Moapa area and if I remember right the numbers of revenue looked favorable for the valley. I know that alot of people in the valley work for the county and depend on that income, but they can always continue to work for county even if we are a inc. town. It’s still a free country I think. Lets plan our own destany and inc. as soon as possible. As for the property taxes spoken of . I believe there is no reason to tax primary residences, then we can truly have pride of ownership and stop paying rent to the county. Tax all investment property to fill the needs and not the wants. Just think we might even be able to have a local control over our schools. Sincerely, Doug Jensen

Incorporate! Incorporate! Incorporate! Our voice for moving forward.

  12. Richard Bush says:

We should have incorporated years ago! It’s fear that’s stopped us. I guess we had to wait until our arrogant county rulers pushed us into it!

  13. Kyle Dalley says:

    It is time to incorporate.

  14. Corey Dalley says:

It is time to control our own future. We need to recognize it will not be easy but together we can have a voice to govern our selves.

  15. Ryan Wheeler says:

I think the community knows that I desire to see this area incorporate. I will add my name to the list regadless.

  16. Bob Smiley says:

Incorporation seems to be the answer to address our growing concerns on our own terms.

  17. Mark Richardson says:

It is time for the community to take control of our own future. This will not answer all the the problems that we are currently dealing with, but it will make the problem one we can take care of locally not in Las Vegas.
